We’re always in such a hurry there’s only so much time all this fussin’ and worry won’t mean a thing at the end of the line
Listen to each other care for one another reach out your hand do your best to be kind
Just a little bit of love goes a long way just a little bit of love goes a long way
I remember when it started that moment you caught my eye I knew that I was falling let me tell you why
You made me feel good about myself you understood how to speak to my soul how to heal my heart
Just a little bit of love goes a long way just a little bit of love goes a long way
Shine your light around this town build me up don’t tear me down it’s not too late for a brand new start open your eyes open your heart
Just a little bit of love goes a long way oh it goes a long way just a little bit of love goes a long way it goes a long long way goes a long long way
Just a little bit of love goes a long way just a little bit of love goes a long way
Just a little bit just a little bit
Just a little bit of love goes a long way just a little bit of love goes a long way for me
Goes a long way shine your light on me
Just a little bit of love goes a long way for me just a little bit of love goes a long way
George: Pat Green had the idea for the song and I immediately heard a melody in my head. I felt a R and B groove and thought it would be the type of song my friends The Prophets and Outlaws would play. I called my buddy Matt Boggs and we started writing. The theme we agreed on was the powerful influence of Love. Whether its for your fellow man or the romantic love that you have for your partner in life
Matt: George called me one day because Pat Green had just talked to George from the golf course. Someone playing golf with Pat said to him, regarding his game, “a little bit of luck goes a long way.” Pat thought to himself, a little bit of LOVE goes a long way would be a great song idea. So, Pat called George with that single line, and George and I finished the rest.
George: Just showing someone you care with a smile, a kind word a phone call, can light a spark, can shine a light on a dark place. Love is the answer and love always gets the final word
Matt: During the writing process, when discussing what “a little bit of love” meant, we were struck by how simple acts of kindness take next to zero effort, yet can leave a long lasting, positive impression with the recipient of the kind act. I think the song is a gentle reminder to each of us that WE can have a significant impact by simply being a good neighbor or good stranger. Smile, be kind, try to show empathy and understanding toward each other.
George: I've always admired those who give their time and money to feed folks who wonder where their next meal is going to come from. The long lines during the pandemic have been heartbreaking but the food banks and volunteers stepping forward is so inspiring
Matt: A lot of us are very fortunate to live and work in North Texas. It doesn’t seem like the sort of town/place where there would be a hunger crisis, but there is. Access to nutritious food for people right in D/FW is essential and if we can help raise money and awareness I think we are helping the right cause.
